Why I chose to support BC Greens
11% popular votes in less than 30 days! BC Greens has probably set a record of sort for a shoe string, volunteer led (no media baron support) political campaign! This is no joke. We should dig deeper and keep working.
I believe the under current in this election was/is economic hardship faced by the entire populace and the population looking for solutions in their own way. Some chose to reject the incumbents and other chose the comfort of victimhood propagated by right wing and yet others rejected both the factions. What I see is that no political faction is equipped to manage the once in a life time socio-economic upheaval in western economies. And no amount of tweaking the existing capitalist economic order will make the situation better. Right wing will do exactly the same things that centrists and other formations have been doing with more brazenness and glee i.e. more austerity for the masses, de-regulation for the bosses, amplified minority bashing/blaming, suppression of human rights and selling off of natural resources. The systems has no way of changing as every political formation believe capitalism can be fixed if their party comes to power, oven Green Party.

Why I believe in Green Party's ability to change itself and the system is because it seems to be open and courageous enough to consider new ideas (see BC Greens's manifesto), Green is the only party that has the backing of young people who are willing to reject capitalism as a whole and re-imagine a people first society. Greens can and should engage with whatever 'ism' (socialism, communism, etc...) brings systemic and meaningful change to our society as a whole and not just go for tweaks here and there. I am with Greens because I think it can.
Next 3-4 years are a change for us to build a grassroots organization and be ready with a new vision of a socio-economic society which has humanity of all at the centre.
Go Greens!
